Keeping America’s postal system secure.

In 2024, the Postal Inspection Service:

  • Made 4,754 arrests and secured 4,228 convictions primarily prohibited mail, mail theft, and assaults and robberies of employees.
  • Recovered approximately $750,000 in misappropriated or stolen mail transport equipment.
  • Investigated approximately 1,700 suspicious mail incidents investigated.
  • Made 2,038 arrests for illegal narcotics.
  • Seized 5,011 assets worth more than $54 million.
  • Seized 1,566 assets worth more than $402 million.
  • Launched 29 investigations into the use of mail in the sexual exploitation of children. This has led to eight arrests and four convictions. To date, more than 20,000 child sexual abuse victims have been identified.
  • Identified 2,505 suspects through examination of more than 1 million items, including more than 381 terabytes of data, through the Inspection Service’s Forensic Laboratory Services.
